Mulgrave and Area Medical Centre

Reporting to the Board of the Mulgrave and Area Medical Centre, the Coordinator will support and promote the work of the Mulgrave and Area Medical Centre.

  • He/She will conduct asset mapping and complete an inventory of current services, supports and outreach available in the Greater Mulgrave area;
  • Identify new and innovative ways to communicate using results and information from asset mapping;
  • Host conversations and discussions with seniors’ groups and community regarding issues and concerns; assist in the creation of linkages and partnerships with related organizations;
  • Research programs and services on successful programming that could be offered in our communities;
  • Investigate possible funding opportunities for seniors grants and programming;
  • Support the work of the Committee with planning monthly meetings, and events and implementing the committee’s work plan;
  • Work to populate the Facebook site with all programs and services the community;
  • Provide administration support to the Medical Centre as required
  • Provide material for the Seniors Webpage on the Town of Mulgrave website, and organize public information sessions as well as education sessions

 

The Coordinator is team-focused and collaborates with providers and community groups to develop and maintain awareness of existing supports for seniors within the community and in surrounding areas through a community development, population health and collaborative approach.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with individuals and community groups to address issues and concerns
  • Knowledge and experience with the Social Determinants of Health
  • Experience in asset mapping, partnership development, stakeholder collaboration and community development

 

The successful candidate should possess:

  • An in-depth knowledge of community-based programs and services in the Guysborough County area
  • Knowledge and ability to work effectively with local senior, health, literacy, and government organizations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, facilitating and computer skills
  • Demonstrated innovation in program implementation
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

 

Work Term:                   September 2, 2019 – August 30, 2020 (52 weeks) (conditional upon funding)

Hours of Work:             35 hrs per week, full time (conditional upon funding)

Salary:                              $20.00 per hour (conditional upon funding)
