Education Abroad Coordinator
StFX is seeking an Education Abroad Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Internationalization, the Education Abroad Advisor (EAA) supports the international partnerships of StFX and facilitates the participation of students in education abroad activities. As a member of the Office of Internationalization team, the EAA supports international and exchange students and the internationalization efforts of StFX. This is a collaborative role in which the incumbent will work closely with colleagues in the Office of Internationalization and throughout the StFX campus, and with contemporaries in partner institutions around the world. The incumbent will be a champion of promoting the transformative nature of education abroad and will implement strategies in all duties that support this process.
This position is in salary band C (starting at $43,400) for 37.5 hours/week.
Facilitation of processes for education abroad programs
Development of promotional materials and activities to spark awareness of and interest in education abroad activities
Facilitates communications with partner institutions to promote StFX as a destination of choice for exchange students, make aware of new programs and supports, and explore opportunities to develop the partnership in other manners.
Administer the university’s risk management plan for travel abroad of students including maintaining the database of travelers, collecting required documentation as per the policy
Facilitate the process of developing and maintaining agreements between StFX and its international partners, under the management of the Director of Internationalization.
Develop programming parallel to education abroad activities that supports the development of intercultural learning and competencies
Collaborate with the International Student Advisor in offering programming that supports the positive experience and retention of all international and exchange students
An undergraduate degree in a relevant area and a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience.
Exceptional interpersonal skills (including but not limited to written and verbal communication skills, judgment, relationship building, ability to be empathetic, and ability to set personal boundaries), a high degree of commitment to the students, the ability to challenge the status quo in a polite but effective manner, and excellent time management skills.
The ability to work effectively and professionally with students, faculty and staff from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Personal experience living and working in an international setting is preferred.
Skills in all MS Office components (Word, Excel, Mes Amis, Outlook, Power Point) are necessary.
