Antigonish Women's Resource Centre

The Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association (AWRCSASA) is seeking a motivated young person to fill the role of Social Issues Researcher.

The Social Issues Researcher will be working with or in contact with a team of project leads working on youth violence prevention and anti-poverty work to help guide and support their work. Job roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • reviewing youth anti-violence curriculum to ensure it features youth voice and that it is relevant and accessible to young people
  • finding/creating supplementary materials on violence prevention and teen dating violence
  • website and social media updates
  • researching and compiling information on available community resources for people living in poverty
  • creating engaging and informative knowledge transfer materials
  • developing communications resources

 

 

The successful candidate requires strong organizational and time management skills, research experience, strong writing and design skills, and excellent inter-personal skills. Knowledge of issues impacting the lives of women, youth, and people living in poverty would be considered an asset.

 

This position is being funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the successful applicant must be a youth between the ages of 15 and 30 and does not need to be a returning student.

Position Type/Term- Full Time (35 hrs per week), end of June to September (12 weeks – dates will be negotiated upon hiring)

Salary- $15.00/hour
