We here at Career Connections would like to congratulate Sarah Armstrong who recently took over The Highland Heart, a free community newsletter published weekly in Antigonish, and distributed throughout the Strait Area of Nova Scotia.  Sarah has kindly shared her success with us over the years: “When I first moved (to Antigonish) I visited (The Antigonish Career Resource Centre) and I had a job before the sun set that day. Now as part of the SEB program, I’ve had another excellent experience with NS Works. New name: same great work!”

From the September 28th – October 4th 2017 issue:

“My name is Sarah Armstrong, I  make my home in Antigonish where I enjoy riding my bicycle and contributing to my community through my roles as Chair of Friends of the Antigonish Library (FoAL) and Membership Liaison for Antigonish Community Energy Coop. I am also an active member of St James United Church, where I am involved with the Hospitality and Outreach/Communications Committees.

I would extend a huge thank you to Stephanie Power of Nova Scotia Works (Antigonish), Kelsey Taylor (CBDC Guysborough) and Denise MacDonald (Employment NS) for their work fostering entrepreneurship in our region through the Self-Employment Benefits Program.

Thank you to former owners, Paula Brophy & Leah Chisholm, who went above and beyond to ensure that I had all the resources and training that I needed to take on the Highland Heart. Their involvement in the transition continues to be invaluable.”
